How do I contact Southern Cross? Southern Cross operates a National Contact Centre which means that wherever you are there is one easy point of contact for all your needs. Southern Cross provides many different types of community care and services. The type of service you receive is determined by the Funding Body of the Program and its Guidelines, or by the type of service privately purchased. In some cases referrals can be made by the Service User themselves or by a neighbour or carer. How do I refer myself to receive Southern Cross services? Services provided by Southern Cross are subject to guidelines established by the Funding Bodies for the care or service program provided. No, Southern Cross delivers services to a broad cross section of the community of any age including those who are catastrophically injured, the ventilator dependent, war veterans, the disabled, palliative care, post discharge care, frail aged, and younger people with disabilities How can I be sure that the services will meet my needs? Southern Cross has Care Assessors (Registered Nurses) who are are based within the regions where we provide care and services. The Care Assessor completes a comprehensive Assessment prior to the commencement of services and regularly monitors your needs (with your input) to ensure services meet your requirements.

What are Southern Cross screening procedures for it's Personnel? Southern Cross follow a formal and thorough recruitment process when selecting its Service Personnel. This includes completing relevant Reference Checks, National Criminal History Record Checks and Working with Children Checks on all Personnel prior to their commencement. Can I nominate a time for a service? Southern Cross will endeavor to meet your needs for delivering services at a set time; however service times are approximate for some services and are assessed in consultation with you at the time of Assessment by the Care Assessor (Registered Nurse). In the case of where high needs care is delivered, Southern Cross roster Service Personnel to set shifts, based on the Care Plan and your individual needs. Will I have to pay for my service? Southern Cross is funded for various programs from different Government Departments and organisations. In some instances there is no cost to you for receiving Southern Cross services. Southern Cross also offer Privately Purchased Services for people wishing to directly purchase any level of service they wish. This includes Service Users who are already receiving other services through Southern Cross funded programs and may choose to buy additional services from us. Southern Cross provides a 24 hour/7 day service with support and advice available at all times, however, we do not provide an emergency response service. The on-call service operates for urgent shift cancellations. In the case of an incident requiring medical assistance, you are advised to dial 000 for an ambulance. Southern Cross has Policies and Procedures in place relating to people from different cultures that do not have English as their first language. These policies ensure that we can communicate appropriately with all people regardless of their background. We will also address and respect any special needs.
