Victorian COVID-19 Community Outbreaks
As you may be aware that there has been a rise in community outbreaks of COVID-19 in Victoria. For the location of current Melbourne COVID-19 ‘hotspots’ and restrictions in place in those areas, please click here.
New South Wales will be temporarily closing its border with Victoria from 12.01am on Wednesday 8 July to assist in containing the spread of COVID-19. After this time, people wanting to travel from Victoria to NSW will need a permit. There will be provisions in place for residents of border regions, such as Albury-Wodonga. Special conditions will be in place for critical services, including health services.
NSW residents returning from a Melbourne hotspot are already required to go into 14 days of self-isolation. This requirement will be extended to anyone returning from Victoria and heavy penalties and fines will be in place for those who do not follow this requirement.
