Southern Cross organise quality services for people over the age of 65 (49 for Indigenous People) who need support with personal daily tasks and want to continue living in the familiarity of their own home.

Southern Cross works together with Government Authorities within their Approved Guidelines. We organise individually tailored Aged services for eligible Participants for a variety of Government Agencies.

Support in your own home

Southern Cross organise all the Support Services you would expect and also organise other services that may surprise you.

Services include:

  • bathing, showering, personal grooming and dressing
  • housework and laundry
  • shopping and meal preparation
  • nursing support such as medication, dressings and wound care
  • transport to appointments and social activities — taking you out to get your hair and nails done, going to bingo, helping you shop for gifts for loved ones and visiting friends and family
  • helping you plant and maintain your garden

We arrange all the regular Aged Support Services you would expect and we also arrange other services that may surprise you.

Services include:

This includes ensuring Support Workers have the skills and experience required to deliver your service and the right personality to enrich your life. You will be involved in the selection process of your Support Worker team.

Southern Cross has locally based Community Support Co-ordinators (Registered Nurses) work with you to establish an individualised service and provide ongoing support to maintain the quality of the service.

The Community Support Co-ordinators and the Support Workers are locally based people who live and work in the communities where your services are provided.

Access to Government Funding

The Australian Government funds many different types of Aged Support Services that enable people to continue living in their own home and maintain their independence.

Once your funding is approved by “My Aged Care”, Southern Cross can then also arrange your services.

Activities and outings

The Support Workers assist you to be a part of the community, socialise and complete practical tasks like shopping, going on outings, paying bills and going to appointments. They can also take you to social and community activities, help you achieve goals such as playing a sport, taking you out to get your hair done, helping you shop for gifts for loved ones and visiting friends and family.

Housework

The Support Workers provide a number of domestic services to enable you to live comfortably in your own home.

The Support Workers can assist with:

  • Vacuuming, mopping and sweeping inside and outside
  • Cleaning bathrooms
  • Cleaning kitchen benches
  • Laundry and
  • Cleaning windows
Meals and shopping

The Support Workers assist you with daily meal preparation, cooking, cleaning and grocery shopping.

Some of the tasks the Support Workers can assist with include:

  • Providing transport to and from the shops
  • Accompanying you at the shops
  • Grocery shopping
  • Preparing meals
  • Cleaning up the kitchen
  • Assisting you with meal preparation
Nursing

Experienced Support Workers provide monitoring and support in your own home, reducing the need to travel to medical appointments or stay in hospital.

The Support Workers assist you through:

  • Administering medication
  • Monitoring a condition and taking measurements
  • Dressing and cleaning wounds and
  • Bowel and bladder care
Personal care

The Support Workers assist you with everyday personal care tasks to help you get on with your day. This may include:

  • Showering or bed bathing
  • Shaving, providing hair care and basic nail care
  • Providing exercise therapy (as prescribed)
  • Assisting with hoists for transfers
  • Helping you to get in and out of bed and move around the house
  • Assisting with eating and drinking
